Data Aggregation Web Tool for Political Social Media
A UK SME has developed a unique web tool for the aggregation of social media posts from UK politicians. They are seeking partners to develop the tool in countries where social media in politics is becoming an important communication method. Partners from across Europe with expertise in marketing, media coverage and political insight are sought. Also, partners are sought who wish to use data aggregation in other social media subject areas under license, Joint Venture and technical agreements.
Social media posting has become a popular method that politicians use to keep in touch with their electorate. This may take the form of Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and RSS feeds. Keeping track of this wealth of infomation can be difficult for members of the public and other politicitians alike. A University research group has developed a website to aggregate this data into a more digestible form.
The data aggregation tool is advantageous to users for the following reasons:
1) It allows users to view the live social media output of all UK Members of Parliament (MPs) in a single feed. (This includes updates from Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and RSS feeds).
2) Users can filter the presented information according to the specific MP and social media output that they wish to see.
3) It is also storing all the information it aggregates thus creating the only known database of everything said by all UK MPs on social media.
4) A back-end dashboard system is being developed which will allow users to search through the database of all information gathered for key terms, words and subjects. In addition, a ‘Google Alert’ style system is being built which will enable users to receive instant alerts when particular terms, words and subjects are mentioned by MPs. This will be particularly useful to public affairs firms who wish to track what politicians are saying regarding particular issues relevant to them.
5) The data aggregation tool can be developed to follow other topics. Bespoke versions of the current technology are possible.
